Whiskeytown Lake | Drone | Carr Fire Aftermath
We have driven past Whiskeytown Lake dozens of times, but we finally pulled over and spent some time at this beautiful reservoir in Shasta County. It is about 8 miles west of Redding, California. The Carr Fire hit Redding (including areas of Whiskeytown) late July 2018 and burned over 200,000 acres destroying thousands of homes. Only a few months has passed since the fire and this damaged area has already displayed signs of rebirth. Mother Nature will be resilient in bringing back this beautiful land. Likewise, Brynlee has been learning how to walk and it has been so exciting to see her determination as she is learning to put one foot in front of the other. Even when she falls down, she picks herself back up and keeps moving forward. And there lies an important lesson for all of us....We can do the same with no matter what comes before us as we need to get back up from obstacles and keep moving forward....one step at a time. Life does not just happen to us, it happens FOR us. Let us find those reasons by discovering the beauty in the ashes.
